³¹ Because of this the place is called Beer-sheba (the well of the seven), for they both swore an oath there. ³² After the covenant had been concluded at Beer-sheba, Abimelech and Phicol, the commander of his army, left and returned to the land of the Philistines. ³³ Abraham planted a tamarisk at Beer-sheba, and there he called upon the name of the Lord, the Eternal God.
